The Government of Scotland has a hugely ambitious CO2 emission reduction target of reducing carbon emissions by 42% over the next decade. Eligible homeowners and tenants can claim £400 towards the cost of replacing their old boiler with a new energy efficient environmentally friendly one.

There are many advantages of a new A-rated boilers as it is rated efficiencies of over 90%, which means the use of the fuel reduces and level of CO2 emissions dips down considerably. According to the Energy Saving Trust, moving from a G-rated boiler to one suggested by them will reduce consumersbills by almost a quarter, which result in more saving and empowering them financially. The Trust is calling people of Lanarkshire to avail the benefits of their Boiler Scrappage Scheme.  With the scheme, eligible households can get £400 towards the cost of a new, more efficient boiler.To qualify for this scheme and receiving cash back on a new energy saving model, households will need to have a poor performing boiler which converts less than 70% of fuel into heat.

Talking about the entire Scotland, it is estimated that around 250,000 households have less efficient type boiler. Upgradation to an Energy Saving Trust recommended boiler, every home will save £185 or £225 for a three bed semi-detached house on an average. Government is helping consumers to cut down their fuel bills and supporting owners of the lands in making their properties more fuel efficient.

The scheme is not only beneficial for the households but will also provide an economic stimulus for the heating industry, supporting jobs and helping it get through this financially difficult time.
